Development: Feb '21- Apr '21
Description: "The Heist" is a first-person stealth game that requires you to sneaks past guards while collecting a code to retrieve your ultimate prize.
Responsibilities: AI Programming, Player Controller, Level Design
Tools Used: Unity
The Heist was one of my first 3D team-based projects. It follows a master thief's attempt at breaking into a high-security museum's vault to steal their valuable art. Being such an early project meant most of the design process was not as well documented as much of the focus was on creating the content and not on proper documentation.
My role in this project was primarily as a programmer and secondly as a level designer. My primary responsibilities were the enemy AI which used a NavMesh with patrol points to create their paths. I also implemented the health UI which was tied to being caught by security bots.
The overall layout of the museum was a collaborative effort. However, enemy placement, as well as code numbers, and levers in each room were placed by me. Our original project consisted of just the main museum, however a follow up project allowed us to expand our game. We decided to create a small tutorial level in which my concept was selected as the level's theme: a narrative-driven sequence where the thief first infiltrates a winery, overindulges, and—fueled by liquid courage—makes the reckless decision to break into the high-security museum.
